absolutely fantastic

In this magazine there is body of work from Fritz Liedtke featuring adolescents. It is one of the most inspiring series of photos I have seen in a long time.
It makes me long to dust off my SLR and point and shoot. Oh wait, my SLR is broken... maybe that is why I stopped taking photos...
Anyways... I checked out the magazine online which led me to something called The Crossing... which is defunct but in it there was a reference to Scott Cairns.. whom both Stacy and Victoria referred to. I love that.
Get thee to a bookstore and look at Fritz's photos.

preparation
Jenny quoted from a book last year: Inheriting Paradise by Vigen Guroian
found this:
Every experienced Christian gardener knows that there is a spiritual spring which comes just as surely as nature's spring. The Lenten spring is God's invitation to prayer, fasting, and penance. Lke the deep-rooted thistle weed, some of our worst habits withstand all but the most persistent, persevering and strenuous exercise. A quick pull on the root, however, will not do the trick, nor will an aggressive chop of the hoe. Patience is needed, and the humble willingness to drop down on one's knees and work carefully with the hand fork and trowel. The Christian gardener patiently picks sin from the soul's soil and culitivates it with care and attention to the tender new growth of faith.
The Christian gardener also respects the fact that God appoints each soul to be "the sort of garden it is to be". "Your job," Evelyn Underhill admonishes, "is strictly confined to making [your soul] as good as it can be of its sort." Some of us will be contemplative in the manner of a rose garden, and others are more earthy and restless, like a potato patch. The Christian gardener respects God's prevenient grace in the synergy of salvation just as she also studies carefully the nature of the plants that grow and gives the appropriate care to each.

broccoli

Broccoli, chicken, peanut butter.... that is what is for dinner - over rice. But, then we will take break from rice as we are heading into the FAST FREE week. The countdown has begun... the gospel about the Pharisee and the Publican was today... next week the Prodigal Son...
I am looking foward to Lent but I am under no illusions that it will be all warm and fuzzy.. but I am looking forward to the spiritual pruning.
*****
On another note - I have finished my second week of training and my brain is taxed on several levels... Please pray for me - that I would have the patience to learn.

prayers for Greta
Update:
Margaret is home now. Thank you everyone for your prayers, Please continue to pray for her continued healing.
Ramona
O Lord our God, Who by a word alone did heal all diseases, Who did cure the kinswoman of Peter, You Who chastise with pity and heal according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every sickness and infirmity, do You Yourself, the same Lord, grant aid to Your handmaiden Margaret and cure of every sickness of which she is grieved; and send down upon her Your great mercy, and if it be Your will, give to her health and a complete recovery; for You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You do we send up Glory: to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Both now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

forging

forging - to form (as metal) by heating and hammering; to form or bring into being esp. by an expenditure of effort
This is an image of my marriage. We are forging a life together - we have forged a life together. We are taking the time to forge out more time for each other. We are committed to rising early and walking the dog before our work day starts.
Thomas and I conversed before we dated. Over the years we have sometmes let our conversational time fall to the wayside because of our daily obligations. Pray for us as we intentionally set apart time to be together. Because - BIG RED - will surely get his knickers in a knot!
