success

Luke and Hannah were in the school wide track meet today. Their school is not known for their athletic prowess... but they did just fine.

Hannah's relay team came in 3rd. She herself finished 4th overall in the 200 metre.

Luke won both the 50 metre and the 100 metres in his CHUCK TAYLORS no less!

I am a very proud mama.

bronze star

The Bronze Star

The Bronze Star award is the pre-Bronze Medallion training standard and it provides excellent preparation for success in obtaining the Bronze Medallion award. In Bronze Star, participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills as individuals and as partners. They learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and they develop Water Smart® confidence and the lifesaving skills needed to be their own personal lifeguard.

Hannah and Luke are duly registered for this course - heading towards a good summer job - the lifeguard.

No pressure though.

The end of the school year is upon us. Thomas has a maybe a good solid week of teaching left. Luke goes to camp in 11 days. Hannah is not going to camp as the Dance Recital is the on the weekend of June 15/16th and needs to be at rehearsal. So, she had to decided camp or the dance recital and she chose dance.

The flood watch is still on.

We had better not have to leave the week of camp/ recital. That would be beyond LAME.

15 years ago today...

I married my husband.
Crazy.
We are having a barn dance this summer to celebrate!

I love Thursdays

I love Thursdays.

I love the fact that I come home and there is no rush to be anywhere specific. There are no dance classes. There is no guitar lesson. I rarely work night shift on Thursdays. I refuse to do housework - unless it is an emergency laundry situation...

Tonight was especially lovely. The sun was shining. We drank some Hungarian Pinot Gris on the deck while the sun set. Thomas BBQ'd the pork loin that we were gifted and we ate some caesar salad.

Now we sit side by side and read and post and hang out silence. Life is good and we have much to be thankful for.

May Day

The plan goes like this:

- coffee - because the day must always start with coffee first.

- contact with the in laws regarding dinner plans.... - no thank you to the pork loin - our taste buds are hankering for something different - homemade beef/ italian sausage burgers with some greek salad - yes to the strawberries... that will be perfect

- they are coming for dinner so we can create an "in case the river overflows the dike and we are forced to evacuate and go live in a campsite for up to a month" plan

- contemplate the weather and the gardens - need to do some serious weeding of the front garden - as the garden in in the FRONT and I am certain the neighbours are mumbling to themselves about the new owners who can't seem to get the garden under control ... our back yard could also use some work. We have pruned the old lavender back severely as per our friend Susan's suggestion... but some more pruning is required. I love working in that garden because of the scent - my hands smell like lavender and I hate to wash them. But, first the front.

- my parents will pop by for a quick coffee and hello on their way home

- some food supplies for the week must be bought

- some laundry must be done

- my kitchen floor really could use a wash

- some prep for parish council meeting is also required

- and if the sun does shine for a few minutes in the afternoon - I shall drink wine in my garden

lunchkit anyone?

The Fine Arts school Visual Arts students are doing their part for our sister school in Kenya. The grades 10-12 students were each assigned a painting to produce. I am in a bidding war for the Chagall lunchkit - which I didn't get a photo of - but there are some truly great efforts.

skunked

the weekend

The weekend was filled with dirt and flowers. There was a distinct lack of sunshine which was HUGELY disappointing since we were promised two beautiful days.
