quick trip to the Okanagan

We spend a lot of time driving this weekend. We visited out favourite vineyards...
Hester Creek, Burrowing Owl and Hillside. We picked up some Merlot and Syrah and Pinot Noir for the winter months. It was a good trip but short and my back is suffering for the time spend in the vehicle.

I am slightly nervous about our pending 8 hour trip to Chaunigan Lake and whether or not I will be able to get out of the vehicle at the end of the day.

the heat is on

I am not a huge fan of curtains. Nor, am I a huge fan of blinds.

When we bought our house we did not negotiate any window coverings....so we had to come up with some temporary solutions until we figured out what we were going to do. My son's room is at the back of the property so he has lived without window coverings but it is SO VERY HOT now that we need to find something to block out the afternoon sun from beating down into his room turning it into a firepit. So, off we went to IKEA - remember I said temporary.

We found these:

We also found one of these for our room because the previous temporary curtain thing was also not blocking out the fireball in the sky.

Then we had to install them. This is where God looks down on high and laughs and laughs as we try to work together without loosing it. We generally try to avoid all home improvement projects that require two people.... we once repaired a door screen and could not talk to each for the entire weekend. We always seem to do these things in the blistering heat of the day....

Anyways, our blind it up and T and his father will put up Luke's blinds tomorrow. Then we are off to the Okanagan to pick up the children and the wine. We are going to visit our favourite vineyards on the Naramata Bench, and Burrowing Owl and Hester Creek in Oliver.

to the women who totally butted in line:

The sign is there for a reason. You line up behind the sign in an orderly fashion. You do not come over from your lovely residence under the tree to view the sign and then go back to you shaded area and wait until 7.20 when they call for tickets and then plant yourself at the head of the line. The boldness of your actions astounded me. How is it that you think you can avoid lining up for seats like the rest of the audience? If you insist on premier seating you can pay the extra money and support Bard on the Beach and they will reserve a seat for you. That is how the game is played.

summer time

I was creating this fabulous post complete with photographs... but the usb cable has disappeared. It did not get put back in its place the last time someone used it.

I love that.

Friday we celebrated H and L passed their Bronze Star. I was impressed. I was not so sure they would pass as it was intensive and the last time they had any formal swim instruction was two summers ago. It is a huge achievement for the both, and a fantastic way to start the summer.

We went to Bard on the Beach and saw Romeo and Juliet. Overall the production was good; not great.

I leave in an hour to drive them to Manning Park where my parents will pick them and their cousin S and take them to the Okanagan for a week.

Tomorrow the septic tank gets cleaned out.

We need to fit a trip into Ikea.

Organize for Chaunigan.

Finish my resume.

first real day of summer

The sun is shining and it is warm.
My flowers are starting to bloom.

H and L had their first day of Bronze Star and they were exhausted and hungry.

We go to Bard on the Beach on Friday - Romeo and Juliet.

16 days until I go on holidays.

Did I mention the sun was shining?
