Mr. Pip

I just finished reading "Mr. Pip" by Lloyd Jones. It is a lovely piece of fiction. Sad. Quiet. I highly recommend it.

sweaters

Mr. W brought out his first sweater. Truth be told; it is not that cold; but the temperature is dropping.

He will have to leave the sweater behind when we go to Liturgy. The sanctuary will be way too warm. NOBODY had better have put the heat on or I will FLIP out!

Today, we shall tidy the back yard and start the emptying of pots. The flowers have pretty much done their thing and so we will compost everything.

We have apple crisp for dessert.

new red

We tried a new south african red wine. Leopard's Leap Lookout. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz-Cinsaut. It was alright. Nothing offensive about it. Fairly big taste. Good for the BBQ. But, our old standby is the Roberts Rock Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot still holds it place as the go to red wine when we are not drinking BC wines.

Is hard work and can be very unpleasant and heart breaking.

the essentials

Some good solid red wine.

Chocolate.

Anniverary Blend

the real first day of school

We are much slower to get going this morning. Lunch must be made. Cheques must be written. PE Strip gathered. What shall we have for dinner?

My goal this weekend is to do some meal planning so that the question - what shall we have for dinner? does not need to be asked. It will be posted on the calendar on the fridge.

back to the school

School starts today. Sort of. They go for 1.5 hours. Orientation really. Locker assignments. Schedules.

I wish I was going back to school too.

the harvest

This is one small portion of basil I have collected.

I decided it best that I harvest what I have as the weather is turning colder.

I did not get it all picked before darkness prevailed.

seasons

The weather is changing. We woke to fog. The sun is shining so it will burn away quickly but it was considerably cooler outside and there is dew on the grass. I love this time of year.

We managed to get most of our supplies last night. We have to make a trip to OPUS, the art supply store for a few things; the dance shop for tights and new ballet slippers.

Food - we have to buy food.

We are having one last hurrah with our good friends before we all hunker down into crazy scheduled days and nights.... although we are committed to one night a month to hang together and refuel for the battles we must face.
