clean monday

In my tradition we begin Lent with Clean Monday.
We are called to enter this holy season with good intentions and and clean hearts.
Time to spiritual clean house and evaluate what is happening in our lives.
Re-orienting ourselves towards a more righteous life.

It is a day of fasting.
It is a good day to clean house too.
Literally, clean my house.
The laundry is out of control.
There are mountains of clothes.
Too many clothes.
Who needs all these clothes?

The sun is shining.
The wind is blowing.
I can see dust everywhere.
Best to get busy.

I've adapted a tradition of doing a big house cleaning before Pascha, during Holy Week usually. It feels so good to come home exhausted and full of joy to a clean house!

I SO agree about the clothes. I have a really rotten closet, the builders made it too shallow and the hangers barely have room to hang in there, even without clothes. Sleeves catch in the bifold doors. So I decided to drastically reduce the number of items. And I just don't even miss them!
