- the Nativity Fast is approaching and I am looking foward to the simplicity of meals it will enforce upon us

- we have turned on our gas fireplace in the sunroom

time is flying by - hard to believe the nativity fast is almost upon us.
It really is amazing how fast it is approaching.
I guess because I am a domestic maladroit baby boomer who learned to cook in the white bread suburbs, I have never found Lenten meals 'simple'. For me the asceticism of having to plan and prepare Lenten meals is much more of a hardship than giving up the actual -eating- of meat and dairy....
I agree, it is amazing that we will be in the fast a month from now.
Isn't it weird that a fast coming in a month sounds so soon, but a feast coming after a month of fasting still is so so so so so so far away?
