Oh. Man. Me and my two 14 year olds watched Where the Wild Things Are on Tuesday night. The movie KILLED me. I pretty much started crying at the opening scene and continued through the whole movie. My daughter wept. My son lost a contact lens from crying. I sobbed on the drive home. I started crying yesterday talking about the film with my co-workers. I had read some reviews and not one mentioned how SAD the film was. Apparently there are a few
reviewsout there which I found after the fact. I haven't cried so much at a film since Birdy. I am just now recovering from the headache - and allowing myself to think about the film.

who knew!?
i thought it was supposed to be a sophisticated-type children's movie.
is it sad like Pan's Labyrinth-sad or a different kind of sad?
just melancholy.
the difficulty of family.
of loss.
mostly it's about lonliness.
Oh my goodness!
I'm so glad you told us...sad?!
Oh. I've been waiting for this for so long. I first saw the trailer at a movie theatre with a dear friend and we got so excited that we started to cry and laugh hysterically at the same time (http://whatwouldleodo.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html). After reading your thoughts I'm a little worried. I have a hard time with loneliness. But it's worth the tears, isn't it?
