best of 2009 Blog Challenge - best car ride

The best car rides of 2009 were with my daughter. We drive to dance and back. We listen to the radio 100.5 The Peak FM. Just the fact that we agree on a radio station makes a pretty fantastic car ride. They have this great 12 hour playlist - so if you hear a song and don't recognize it, you just note the time played and then go online and check it out. This is why my daughter is listening to music by Modest Mouse, the Great Lake Swimmers, The New Pornographers, Band of Horses, Death Cab for Cutie. So, we listen to good music.

We have had some good conversations. We talk about school and boys and dance and friends. Sometimes we don't talk at all and sit in the silence. Sometimes it is good, full silence and sometimes it is empty.

Sometimes it is not so pleasant. Sometimes, we argue. Sometimes the ridiculousness of the conversation is overwhelming. Sometimes I forget she is still only 14 and the frontal lobe is not fully developed.

I am thankful for the opportunity.
