#reverb10 December 9

Prompt: Party.  What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010?  Describe the people, music, food, clothes,  shenanigans.

No question - the social gathering which knocked my socks off was attending the Integrate in the Rockies retreat in Colorado this November.  Organized by the amazing Jen Lee and gentle guiding soul Phyllis Mathis - attending this retreat was a big leap for me.  I made the decision to get on a plane and spend 4 nights with complete strangers in a home in the Colorado Rockies.  Meeting Jen was on my life list.  An opportunity presented itself - the stars aligned and I said yes.

I would not call the event a party - but it was definitely good.  We were up high.  Altitude 9600 ft.  That messed up my head - I don't think there was ever a moment I did not have a water bottle at my side - I was constantly drinking water.  If I stopped - I felt like I was burning up inside.  I had a headache for 2 days - but it was all good.  It was really a pinch me I think I am dreaming extended moment.

Quiet.  Lovely.  Piercing.  All words I would use to describe the 4 days.  The physical environment was exquisite.  The soundtrack - two crazy songs - I gotta feelin' by the Black Eyed Peas and John Denver's Rocky Mountain High.

I packed lightly.  PJ's - a clean T-shirt and underwear for each day.  Wool socks. Toque. Scarf - jeans and fleece pants.  That is it.  At the last moment we heard someone was coming who had allergies - so I left all my toiletries at home - I brought a comb and contact lens solution.  Deodorant.   And it was good.

I left girded with the knowledge and permission to keep on my path and forge ahead with telling my story.
