moments

late this afternoon I stumbled upon both of sixteen year old children engrossed in novels I had brought home from the library.  my eyes actually welled up with joy.  how corny is that?  they thought I was being ridiculous.  but, it was one of my major goals to raise readers.  and they are.

first yoga class in six years and I was the only one in the class.   kind of like a private lesson.  it was good.  no real pain or discomfort until the class was over and then it was minimal.

waking to my internal alarm and realizing I did not need to go anywhere.  rolling over and having the second sleep.

Don't you just love the second sleep?
(Not to mention a gentle reminder that you've parented well...)

it is a good feeling. I remember on the plane on our last family vacation my kids all had their books they had brought for the flight and an elderly woman commented as we were disembarking

"you never see kids reading these days! always with the little electronic gadgets! my husband and I were marveling at your children! bravo!"

to see them reading books is as satisfying as feeding them a good wholesome meal, n'est-ce pas?
