The poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.

It seems completely ridiculous to be in such a state about food. We are about to embark on the journey of Lent. I quite enjoy and look forward to the journey but I absolutely hate the tension with regards to food. If it were up to me I would eat peanut butter sandwiches on frozen bread along with a steaming mug of coffee. I love peanut butter on cold bread that is slightly thawing and then I dunk it in my coffee. But, apparently I am unique in that aspect. First of all, my children are too young to drink coffee. And my husband just walks away from me when I suggest a peanut butter sandwich for dinner.
Sure we eat salad and lentil soup but is always with a grumpy attitude. Did they not read the part about put on a happy face when you fast.
So many people in our world are starving - or barely get enough and in our land of plenty we are complaining about the choices.
Lent is a time to reflect and focus... maybe this is part of it - truly see how pathetic we are and realize we can move beyond our little selves and strive to do better.

Yeah, I eat PB&Js most Lenten lunches, and am very happy with that.
But, peanut butter doesn't agree with dh gastrointestionally. Plus, he's not Orthodox. So, no go for dinner too.
You've given me new insight into Lent.
I'm trying to get psyched up about rice and beans. I always panic for a minute, and then start remembering all kinds of delicious things that I can still have (which is kind of not the point, but still consoling).
Love your label - SO TRUE. And I need 'em every year.
