#reverb10 December 6

Make:  What was the last thing you made?  What materials did you use?  Is there something you want to make but, you need to clear some time for it?

Prompt comes from Gretchen Rubin author of The Happiness Project

Today I made cappuccino shortbread with my sister and my daughter.  It is customary for my sister and I  to get together and bake cookies before Christmas.  We have done it for years - maybe 14 or 15.  The thing is that my sister suffered a brain hemorrhagic stroke 10 years ago and baking cookies is a way to maintain a connection to her previous life.  We are together and I orchestrate and direct the baking and production and she participates as fully as she can.  Early in her recovery she was mostly a spectator - now she has specific duties.  This year my daughter joined in.  She was integral to the success of our venture.  We attempted some new varieties along with the shortbread.  We laughed at our memories of when she was first coping with her disabilities -and we celebrated how far she has come.

When I think about what I want to make/ create - I think about crafting ideas and words together.  But, I also think about setting aside/ apart the time.  And then the doing.  I want to make more of a concerted effort to set aside time to be creative and to do... not just think about the doing but to just do it.

beautiful photo. wonderful that you can do this with your sister and this year your DD.

sorry to hear of your sister's suffering; we all have such diverse battles that we are in; wonderful that you can celebrate the progress your sister has had since the stroke.

blessed evening to you.

okay. just wow.

I'm half finished one of those no sew fleece blankets for the friend of a daughter. She was supposed to make it .. but well, it's been sitting on the dining room table for too long. I love to sew and cook and create.. I do a lot of it in my head.

( and thanks for being there for me. here. it means a lot. truly. I am so blessed )

What a wonderful way to connect with your family. It's amazing what a little working with your hands can do I believe.
