Prompt: Community - Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise in 2010? What community would you to join. create or more deeply connect with in 2011?
Author - Cali Harris
I have been blogging for almost 5 years. But, it is just in this last year (2010) that I have really connected with an online community that I can call my own. I have dared to branch out and stretch and I have been gifted with relationships that support and challenge me to continue to grow. I have made new friends.
People who honour and encourage my creative side. Which is not to say that I did not have that outside of my online community but, rather I took the risk with strangers - easier to be rejected from someone you don't know than people you have to look at day in and day out. I was more open to criticism and feedback from a stranger than a friend. The supportive experience has bolstered my confidence and I am looking forward to inviting more of my non online community into my space. Here. To allow them to read and comment and offer words. To risk.
I would be remiss in mentioning the Integrate in the Rockies retreat in November. A most lovely and endearing gathering of creative minds, bodies and souls. They have pushed me to keep telling my story. I am thankful for our time together.
In 2011 I would like to see a merging of my online community with my face to face community. Integrated. No one or the other. Just a community of people who continue to challenge and support each other in our creative endeavors.

Wow. This really hits home. You are so right about being able to accept criticism from a stranger more easily than from a friend.
I'm so glad you're here, doing this, sharing your words and your voice.
I am grateful to be part of your community and thankful that we can maintain in online. Hopefully the future will bring us more time together IRL someday.
