school's out

Grade 12 is done.
12 years of public education is in the books.  A chapter is closed.  New paths to be chosen.  It all seems a bit surreal.  I am kind of sad.  Perhaps even a tad bit anxious.  I worry that I have not done enough in these last few years to equip my children to live in this world.  To be clear neither of them is going anywhere in the immediate future.  My son has secured a full time job.  This is a very good thing.  He works Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30 pm.  The structure and routine will do him wonders.  A regular paycheque is also very good.  For this I am very thankful.

My daughter has a part-time job for the summer and is looking for another one.  She is making plans to go back to school in 2014.  Both are planning to live at home this summer.  I am OK with that.  I am looking forward to a life without school in the mix.  We will have to adjust to new schedules and our lives will change.  Again.

Summer is officially here.  Even though it is still rainy and cloudy.  They weather people have promised the sun will shine this weekend.  My immediate future holds looking for a good novel to read and to work on my Pinot Gris project.

Last weekend was full of scheduled activities.  This weekend... I want nothing of it.  I will relax and get some gardening done.  We may have dinner with friends on Sunday.

that picture is so very wonderful....

I think it is fully normal for you, a full caring Mother to feel the sadness of a chapter closing. It's a big change. So glad they are with you for the summer.

I still remember H. 10 years ago and it is hard to fully imagine her as I see her beautiful and grown up in pictures now.

So beautiful and precious and changing is this life we are given.

Praying for you my friend.
