anybody need a photographer?
I stumbled across Helene Cyr - through the blogsphere...read some crazy stuff along the way but her images are beautiful. Inspiring. I want to pick up my camera... oh wait... I still don't have one... some day soon though... I can feel it.
The one book
1. One book that changed your life:
The Bible - I am partial to Isaiah and the Psalms
2. One book that you’ve read more than once:
My Name is Asher Lev
3. One book you’d want on a desert island:
For the sake of my spiritual health, the prudent answer would be the Bible
4. One book that made you laugh:
I generally don't ready funny books
5. One book that made you cry:
Bridge to Teribithia
6. One book that you wish had been written:
The third book in the Asher Lev series by Chaim Potok
7. One book that you wish had never been written:
I can't think of one...
8. One book you’re currently reading:
I am not reading anything right now...trying to decide if I will pick up the Brothers K again, or maybe reread The Book of Lights by Chaim Potok... any suggestions....for fiction... my non fiction list of recommended books by Leithart comes from Thomas.
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:
The new book by Fr. Tom - Christian Faith and Same Sex Attraction
The Bible - I am partial to Isaiah and the Psalms

42 degrees celcius
It is darn right hot outside. We are in the Okanagan for a few days - we will bring H and L back home with us on Wednesday. Hannah and Luke have aclimatized but Thomas and I got a wee bit too much sun today. We are fortunate in that my parents have a pool so when you get to the point that you cannot stand the heat anymore you just dive into the water. The challenge is that you put sunscreen on and then you have to wait so it doesn't just wash away when you dive in. The oil slick it leaves behind is not so pleasant either.
We are going to visit some local wineries to stock our shelves for the winter months.

I finally finished reading The Poisenwood Bible. It is a good story. It makes you think.

master storyteller

I have been listening to my new CD for a few days now and I have not been disappointed.
Hannah says "it is a bit slow" - it is that indeed. But, there is a quiet reconciliation that resonates throughout recording.
Johnny Cash clearly knew he was on his way to meet his Maker. He loved Jesus with his whole heart - there is no doubt there. His faith humbles me.

blog templates
The template I really wanted to use come with a dorky picture of feet... we have tried everything to fix it and put my own image in the header to no avail and so now I am jumping around and testing out other templates... when really I should just go to bed.
thank you Thomas
Thomas gave me the new Johnny Cash American V recording today. It was a surprise. I have been out of the news loop for a while and had absolutely no idea this was being released this summer.
I heard about it last Sunday and was determined to go and buy a copy ASAP - which is when he confessed he had already ordered it. What a guy!
It is pretty darn fine listening. So, if you come by our house, I will play it for you. And we will have a party to celebrate!

shakespeare/ camp debrief
Whilst Hannah and Luke were at camp we had the opportunity to go to see The Winter's Tale at Bard on the Beach.
I highly recommend venturing to Vanier Park and taking in a production. It is an enjoyable evening of theatre and you are supporting actors in their craft.
Hannah and Luke have not talking about camp. We have heard about the food, the chapel guards, the workshops, the challenges, the new friendships made, the old friendships renewed.
Thanks for all the hard work - camp directors and staff!

silence and embracing pavement
It is very quiet here tonight. It is a good silence, I am carrying in my heart all the folks at St. Arseny camp. I pray for Hannah and Luke that their faith may be deepened.
I took a tumble from my bicycle yesterday. I hit the ground hard. I have a bloody knee and my shoulder, wrist and palm ache like dickens...but there were no automobiles involved so that is a good thing. Glory to God.
I work late shift tomorrow so Thomas and myself will go for a long bike ride before I head off to make the big bucks...
